Release Of Turtles In Support Of Crash Victim

A community comes together tomorrow at the River Flats Ecological Park Trail in Wingham to support a woman recovering from a crash.

Blyth area's Julie Sawchuk was on her bike on July 29 when it was hit by a car. She suffered multiple injuries including a broken back.

Tomorrow, a snapping turtle hatchling will be released into the wild, a symbol of being a survivor. That turtle was the lone survivor from a pregnant turtle that was hit by a car. A number of other turtles will be released at the same time.

Tomorrow's symbolic ceremony starts at noon at the north entrance of the River Flats Ecological Park Trail on Victoria St. West in Wingham.

It will be rain or shine.
