The Stratford Perth Museum will use over $36,165 in federal funding for upgrades to support two projects.
Perth Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger made the announcement today.
Over $8,365 will improve the museum's capacity to host travelling exhibitions, and nearly $27,800 will help create a new exhibit in the Perth Regiment Gallery.
“We are pleased to provide funding to the Stratford Perth Museum, an important local institution that celebrates the rich military and cultural heritage of our community. This funding will ensure that the Museum will continue to tell the stories of the people who lived in and built our region,” says Perth–Wellington MP Gary Schellenberger.
The money from the World War Commemorations Community Fund will help create a new museum exhibit, as well as an online exhibit of the collection of nearly 1,000 artifacts relating to the Perth Regiment.
“When we were awarded the Anne Frank House exhibit, we committed to two significant improvements. One was that the Museum have complete coverage by security cameras; two, that we create a theatre space where the Anne Frank documentary that accompanies the exhibit can be shown and where we can present our speakers’ series,"says John Kastner, general manager of the Stratford Perth Museum. "The World War commemoration project will enable the Museum to develop a far more robust Perth Regiment exhibit. What’s most exciting will be the creation of a digital collection of stories from people who were part of the Perth Regiment or benefitted so greatly from their efforts. The funding provided by the Government of Canada will help to further transform the Stratford Perth Museum.”
