UPDATE: Central Huron Cyclist Hit on Blyth Road

A Central Huron woman has been identified as the cyclist injured this morning when struck by a car near Council Line.

At approximately 8:45am, Huron County OPP and Huron County EMS responded to the crash site.

Investigators have determined that a Volkswagen Jetta was eastbound on Blyth Rd. when the driver struck a triathlon style racing bike from the rear.

The collision propelled the rider off of her bike into an adjacent grass field.

The injured cyclist was transported to hospital by air ambulance and remains in hospital with serious injuries.

The cyclist has been identified as 41-year-old Julie Sawchuk from Central Huron.

Blyth Rd. is now open for travel.
