Some Cooling Centres Open in Region Due to Heat Wave

Residents in some communities will have a chance to escape the heat today.

A number of cooling centres have opened in the region to provide people with a place to escape the sweltering temperatures.

Mapleton Township is opening two cooling stations in Drayton today.

The arena on Main Street West will be open today until 4pm, and the municipal office at 7275 Sideroad 16 will be open until 5pm for residents who need a break from the weather.

The City of Stratford has launched its Keep it Kool program to help residents cope with the extreme heat.

Several city facilities and programs are available to the public.

The Kiwanis Community Centre is open between 8:30am and 9pm today only.

Anne Hathaway Park Splash Pad is open 9am – 8pm.

The Stratford Rotary Complex is open open 8am - 8:30pm.

Stratford Public Library - open 10am - 9pm.

There is an admission charge, but the Stratford Lions Pool has a wide variety of swim times including 12-1pm and 2-4 p.m. family swim, and a public swim from 6-8pm.
