ACW Receives First Funding From K2 Wind

The Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has just received a little over $417,000 from K2 Wind in Community Benefit Funding for the wind energy project in the township.

Reeve Ben Ven Diepenbeek explains the township is supposed to receive about $700,000 a year based on the number of megawatts the project produces.

This year's payment was pro-rated because the project didn't start producing power until the end of May or early June.

"When we're going through the increases and policing and decreases in OMPF (Ontario Municipal Partnership Funding) funding, this is certainly going to keep our municipality in pretty good financial shape," Van Diepenbeek said.

Van Diepenbeek points out the money can be used for infrastructure or a range of community projects.
