Friends of Hay Township Hall Want Insurance Status Confirmed

Members of the Friends of the Hay Township Hall have asked Bluewater council to clarify their status or pass a motion making them a committee of council.

Spokesperson Healther Klopp explained to Bluewater council last night as long as two councils ago they were under the impression they were a committee of council and council at that time held the same impression and they have always operated as if they were a committee of council.

Klopp says it was only recently that it was discovered no bylaw could be found confirming that and that raised the possibility the Friends of the Hay Township Hall did not have any insurance.

Some councillors felt they probably did have insurance because the Hall in this case is a municipal building.

But Klopp pointed out they raise all of their own money and fund maintenance for the hall but they don't want to have any of that money spent on insurance.

Klopp has asked if it's confirmed that they're not already covered the municipality will pass a bylaw making them a committee of council and then they can continue operating they way they always have, but with insurance.
