Lions Hope to Help Keep Monkton Library Open

The Monkton Lions Club has asked North Perth if the club can help write a new chapter in the community library branches' history.

Lions member Roy Beuerman says they could partner with North Perth to buy the old CIBC building for $110,000.

Beuerman says the Lions prefer to buy the CIBC building because it's larger than the current site, and requires less work to make it accessible.

However, the club would also support renovations at the current site of the Monkton Library. The Lions club is pledging $50,000 toward either plan.

The Library Board and North Perth council will review the proposal tonight.
