New Construction In Minto Surging

New construction in Minto is going through the roof.

The first half of 2015 shows $14.5-million in building permits issued. That compares to $5.8-million for the same period last year.

The ten-year average for the entire year is just $14.7-million.

"We’re at a ten-year high for building permits. It seems to be well spread out, industrial, commercial and housing, as well," Mayor George Bridge tells CKNX News.

Chief building official Terry Kuipers couldn’t explain why some municipalities like Minto are booming and some are not. But he noted that this year he’s done in six months what he normally does in 12 months.
