Child Pinned Under Tractor Tire Dies

A 4-year-old boy has died after being pinned underneath a tractor tire in the Township of Southgate.

The Grey County Ontario Provincial Police says on Saturday around 11:35am, emergency crews were called to an agricultural residence on Hwy. 89 after the tire fell over onto the child.

The 4-year-old was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is mandated to investigate all deaths of persons under the age of 5 years old. The Farm Safety Board has also been notified.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday in Hamilton.
