Bluewater And Central Huron Hire Economic Development Officer

The municipalities of Bluewater and Central Huron will be sharing an economic development officer next week.

Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn says the two municipalities have a lot in common, and there would be a lot of duplication if they each had a full-time officer.

They have jointly hired Kim Leach from Perth, Ontario who starts in the new position next week. She previously worked as the economic development officer for the Township of Leeds and One Thousand Islands.

Ginn hopes the shared economic development officer will result in some cost savings, but he hopes it will also mean more development for both municipalities.

He adds Bluewater and Central Huron are in the preliminary stages of investigating other possible partnerships.
