Alzheimer Walk In Clinton

Close to 100 people walked to raise money for Alzheimer's research Saturday in Clinton.

Cathy Ritsema, executive director of the Huron County Alzheimer's Society, says Walk for Alzheimer's was different for a couple of the reasons.

"Traditionally we've done five walks in the county in the winter, and we're trying to bring everybody together and do one," Ritsema tells CKNX News at the event.

Ritsema says they have walks of 1 km, 3 km and 5 km through Clinton and they're hoping to raise about $25,000.

Ritsema also points the walk in Clinton is the first and kicks off the series of walks across the country.

Ritsema adds there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's and as people live longer, more people are impacted by the disease, either as a patient or a caregiver.
