Broadband Connectivity Improves in Bluewater

Broadband connectivity has improved in The Municipality of Bluewater thanks to some major investments by local telecommunications companies.

This year, Tuckersmith Communications is scheduled ot complete fibre construction in Varna, Brucefield, and Bayfield east of 21.

By the end of the year, nearly 80% of the land mass in Bluewater will be covered by fibre optic cable thanks to Tuckersmith, and to Hay Communications.

Mayor Tyler Hessel says having affordable, reliable high speed broadband gives Bluewater a competitive advantage in attracting new residents and investment.

Municipal planning expert Gord Hurme says communities need to position themselves for an economy that is Creative, Innovative, and Knowledge Based.

“We appreciate the substantial investments that Hay and Tuckersmith Communications have made in Bluewater to improve broadband connectivity for our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Tyler Hessel. “Economic development is a key priority for Council and having access to affordable and reliable high speed broadband gives us a competitive advantage as we look to attract new residents, entrepreneurs, and businesses. We’re in a global economy where connecting people, ideas, and knowledge is more important than ever.”
