Partnership Enhances Emergency Readiness in Kincardine

A new partnership has been formed to increase safety at Bruce Power and surrounding area.

Kincardine, Bruce Power and the Grey-Bruce Health Unit have been planning enhancements to emergency readiness in the event of a radiological emergency or conventional emergency caused by severe weather.

Pre-distribution of Potassium Iodide tablets to residents, businesses, and institutions located within the 10 kilometre radius of Bruce Power will take place in early April.

Efforts to distribute beyond the radius will take place later this year.

A letter to residents and businesses will include a voucher for the tablets and information on pick-up locations.

Public education products are also being developed for distribution as well as posting on websites.

Kincardine council will discuss the new initiative Wednesday.
