Bighead Hops Shindig In Meaford Goes Public

The Bighead Hops Shindig this summer in Meaford has been declared a "municipally significant event."

The chief planner of the Shindig, Rheanna Kish, asked Meaford council for the declaration so she could apply to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission for a Special Occasions Permit.

Kish explained in a letter that unlike the past two Shindigs, this year’s harvest craft beer and music festival will be a public event, so she must apply for the necessary permits.

Meaford Clerk Rob Tremblay says he and other staff support Kish’s request because it's in keeping with the agribusiness pillar of Meaford’s Economic Development Strategy. Meaford council agreed.

The Bighead Hops Shindig is scheduled for August 15.
