Meaford Receives Unexpected Cheque

Meaford council received a surprise visit from a local organization last night.

Evelyn Dean of The Beautiful Joe Heritage Society presented Mayor Barb Clumpus with a cheque for 38 hundred dollars.

Society members raised the money to help pay their share of the cost for building a leash-free dog park in Meaford. The original cost of setting up the park in 2012 was 20 thousand dollars.

In an agreement with Meaford, the Beautiful Joe Heritage Society pledged to raise 10 thousand dollars, or half the cost.

Dean said the Society relied on donations from sponsors and the public to cover the $10 thousand.
