Huron Perth Hospice Meeting Monday

The Huron-Perth Hospice Palliative Care Collaborative is hosting a public meeting Monday night on the End of Life care in Huron County.

Executive Lead Mary Cardinal explains they're hoping to talk about what Hospice Palliative Care is, what currently exists in Huron and Perth, and then ask people what they would like to see added.

Cardinal points out Hospice Palliative Care supports individuals and their families who have a terminal or life-threatening disease on their end of life journey. She adds it is not intended to be someone's final days of life and it's meant to support the individual where they want to be; that could be in their home, in a residential hospice or in a hospital.

There are currently two visiting hospice programs in Huron County. There are a variety of care options and care providers and a whole network of people who co-ordinate care. She adds all eight hospitals in Huron and Perth provide a level of Palliative Care, but none of them have funded beds or special Palliative Care programs.

The public meeting is Monday March 23rd at the Central Huron Community Centre in Clinton at seven o'clock.
