The first two months of 2015 have been slow for new construction just about everywhere in midwestern Ontario.
In Wellington North, a report by Chief Building Official Darren Jones shows just 12 permits worth $680,000 have been issued to the end of February.
That compares to over $1-million in permits in the same period in each of the past two years.
Meanwhile, Meaford’s building department issued just three building permits in February. Those permits had a total building value of $165,000.
There were seven building permits issued in February of 2014.
Deputy mayor Harley Greenfield blames the bitter cold weather as the reason for the slow progress of building.
