Scammers Busy in Bruce County

Scam artists are working hard to steal the money of Bruce County residents during Fraud Prevention Month.

The OPP says officers continue to receive reports of cons and scams in the region.

An Arran Elderslie resident received a phone call that "Eastlink employees are coming to collect money owed."

While another Arran Elderslie resident was told by phone they were short listed to receive an ADT security system.

A resident of Huron Kinloss was told to meet a caller at the bank to arrange payment of taxes owed.

Fortunately the attempted scams were recognized, and no money or personal information was shared.

Police say a con artist will often pretend to work for a real company to gain your trust which makes it easier for them to take your money.
