The director of education for the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board has accepted a position with the province.
Board Chair Beverley Eckensweiler has announced that Director of Education Catherine Montreuil has been appointed assistant deputy minister of education, Learning and Curriculum Division, for the province. Her position is effective July 1.
Montreuil acknowledged the commitment of the school staff, principals, senior administration and the education centre staff who have worked tirelessly to learn on behalf of the students in the system. She also acknowledged the partnerships with parishes, parents and communities.
The board will begin recruitment for a new director in the near future.
"It is with mixed feelings that we announce the departure of Catherine Montreuil, however, we know what a positive contribution she will make to the Ministry of Education and the children across Ontario," says Eckensweiler. "We are very proud of her. During the eight years that Cathy has served our board, she has been instrumental in moving our schools forward in respect to literacy, numeracy and technology. Cathy's strong leadership skills and strategic thinking are underscored by her passion for Catholic education. She is, and will continue to be, an outstanding leader in education."
