New Procedural Bylaw In Bluewater

Bluewater council has approved a new procedural bylaw.

Mayor Tyler Hessel says the two biggest changes are aimed at keeping residents up to date on what projects the municipality is working on and on controlling the amount of time councillors spend debating the same issue.

Hessel council will introduce an action item at the conclusion of each meeting, listing the projects that are underway and the status of that project.

The change regarding councillor's debate will allow each councillor to speak once on a particular issue unless new information has been introduced, in which case the chair could allow a councillor to respond to the new information.

Hessel says too often the past council meetings were extended longer than they had to be because councillors kept repeating themselves during debate.
