Hepatitis 'A' Alert For Diners At Alma Restaurant

Area health units are advising anyone who ate at Marj's Village Kitchen in Alma recently to contact their doctor or their local heath unit.

It's been confirmed an employee working at the restaurant has hepatitis 'A' and was symptomatic while working at the location.

Anyone who ate at Marj's Village Kitchen between January 2 and January 20 of this year should receive a hepatitis 'A' vaccination as soon as possible.

Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Doctor Hazel Lynn says there have been several confirmed cases of hepatitis 'A' in people who ate at Marj's Village Kichen in Alma.

She says hepatitis is not usually fatal for adults but is very unpleasant. Infants and the elderly are at greater risk of mortality.

The hepatitis 'A' vaccine is free at public health clinics for those who qualify.
