Missing Boa Snake In Owen Sound Found Dead

The search for a missing snake in Owen Sound is over.

The two-metre long red-tailed Boa Boa Constrictor was found dead in the residence on 11th St. W and 4th Ave. W that it was reported missing from on October 12.

At that time the owner of snake contacted Owen Sound Police Service to report that it had gotten out of its enclosure and was missing.

Extensive internal and external searches in and around the home failed to locate it.

On November 11, a roommate of the snake’s owner located the dead snake behind a storage container in a secluded area of the home, while moving some belongings.

It was a poorly heated area of the residence and it is believed the snake perished due to exposure of cold temperatures.

Police weren't initially contacted when the dead snake was found, but were alerted to the discovery through social media.
