West Perth CAO Resigns

West Perth’s long-time CAO is resigning next month.

Will Jaques made his resignation official at the council meeting last night.

Members of council say they will now look at whether or not to replace Jacques , or go without a CAO for the next council term.

Council is currently is in 'lame duck' status, which means they cannot hire anyone until the new council is sworn in on December 1st. Jaques - who spent seven years in the position - will officially leave the municipality on December 12th.

"If you look at where this municipality was at amalgamation and where we are now, we've already downsized a number of bodies," said Mayor Walter McKenzie, "We'll have to take a look at that."
