Artists have the chance to create a landmark piece of public art for the Town of St. Marys Town Hall Courtyard.
The planned free-standing work will act as a landmark and gateway that reflects the character and values of the community.
The Town Hall courtyard piece is the first step of a multi-stage Public Art Project that Council approved in 2018.
The town is accepting tenders for the project until August 15, and the successful bidder would have to have the piece completed by February 2020. Interested applicants can take part in a site visit at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
The project was made possible by funding received through the Ontario government Main Street Revitalization Initiative.
The Town of St. Marys is known by the nickname "Stonetown" due to the abundance of limestone in the area and a large number of limestone buildings and homes throughout town.
The town is also home to Canada’s largest outdoor freshwater swimming pool (the Quarry), the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, the Stonetown Heritage Festival, the Grand Trunk Trail, and the WinterLights festival
