Formenton Returning to Knights

The London Knights are getting back one of their offensive weapons.

Left winger Alex Formenton is rejoining the Knights after starting the season with his NHL team, the Ottawa Senators. The Senators confirmed the move via tweet on Sunday.

The Senators have also reassigned defenceman Thomas Chabot to the AHL Belleville Senators.

Formenton, 18, scored 34 points last regular season for the Knights, including 16 goals. He also had a plus-21 rating and 50 penalty minutes.

The King City, Ont. native also had six penalty minutes in the 2017 OHL playoffs.

Formenton made the Senators opening night roster after completing training camp and played his only NHL game to date on October 7. He is the youngest player in contemporary Senators history to play in a regular-season NHL game.

Formenton returns to boost a Knights team that has lost eight games in a row and sits in last place in the OHL Midwest Division.
