Knights one win away from Memorial Cup final

The London Knights remain unbeaten at the Memorial Cup.

The team beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-4 in front of a crowd of 4,768 at the Dow Event Centre in Michigan on Monday night. The Knights now have a 2-0 record at the tournament.

Ruslan Gazizov, Sam Dickinson, Sam O’Reilly, Landon Sim, and Kasper Halttunen scored for London and Denver Barkey and Easton Cowan each had a pair of assists. Knights' goaltender Michael Simpson had a 26-save performance.

Warriors' Ethan Semeniuk had a pair of goals, while Denton Mateychuk and Martin Rysavy each scored once.

The Knights play the Saginaw Spirit on Wednesday. The winner of that match-up gets an automatic spot in the Championship final of the 2024 Memorial Cup. Saginaw also touts a 2-0 record after beating Moose Jaw 5-4 on opening night of the tournament and the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-3 on Sunday.

The Knights/Spirit match-up is a familiar one for OHL fans. The two teams faced off in the Western Conference Championship series, with the Knights eliminating the Spirit in Game 6.

The puck drops on Wednesday's game at 7:30 p.m.

Londoners who can't make the trek to Michigan can watch the game live on the big screen set up on Dundas Place downtown. The city has public washrooms available on site and the flex-street has been closed to traffic between Ridout and Talbot streets to allow for the viewing party.
