Man charged with uttering death threats during downtown argument

Charges have been laid after a man claimed he had a gun during an argument downtown.

London police were called about the disturbance at a business in the area of Carling and Richmond streets around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday. Police were told that two men had got into an argument with one of the men indicating he had a firearm.

When police arrived the man had already left the unnamed business.

Officers used video surveillance to get a description and arrested a suspect at a nearby business.

No injuries were reported.

Through further investigation, police confirmed the man did not actually have a gun.

A 22-year-old London man is charged with one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 13.
