One person killed in crash on Highway 401 east of London

A serious early morning crash on Highway 401 east of London has claimed the life of one person.

Emergency crews were called to the highway after two vehicles collided in the westbound lanes between Culloden and Putnam roads in Thames Centre around 2:15 a.m. on Friday.

One person, a 24-year-old of London, was pronounced dead at the scene, Middlesex OPP said.

The westbound lanes of the highway between Culloden and Putnam were closed to allow the OPP traffic incident management and enforcement team time to investigate the cause of the crash. Traffic was temporarily detoured off the highway through Ingersoll. All lanes of the highway were reopened shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to call them at 1-888-310-1122.
