Pair hit with bear spray after downtown argument

An assault charge has been laid after a man and woman were sprayed with bear spray inside a downtown home.

A woman had tried to break-up an argument between two men in the home in the area of Horton Street East and Clarence Street around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. The resident of the home then ordered the other man and the woman to leave.

As the pair were exiting, the resident allegedly sprayed them with the noxious substance, causing all three to be overcome.

London police were called and a man was arrested.

No injuries were reported, police said.

A 20-year-old London man is charged with assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charge on April 16.
