CN Rail shed burned in St. Thomas

St. Thomas police and fire officials are investigating an overnight fire that destroyed a CN Rail shed.

Firefighters were called to the blaze beside the tracks on Hiawatha Street just after 12 a.m. on Thursday.

No one was hurt and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Damage to the shed was extensive with the roof caved in and the inside badly charred. A dollar figure has yet to be determined, said Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun.

She added that it is believed the fire was set by a homeless person who was in the area, but had gone by the time emergency crews arrived.

No arrests have been made.
