Pedestrian fighting for life after east London collision

A pedestrian is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after an overnight collision in east London.

Emergency crews were called to Veterans Memorial Parkway, just north of Hamilton Road around 2 a.m. on Friday where a man had been hit in the southbound lanes.

He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for injuries described as "life-threatening". The man's name and age have not been released.

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene, London police said.

The southbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Parkway between River and Hamilton roads were closed while members of the police traffic management unit were on scene investigating. The road was reopened just before 1 p.m.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Hamilton Road between 1:45 a.m. and 2 a.m., who has dash-cam footage or information about the collision to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
