Tacks in your tires: Police warn of latest distraction theft

Aylmer police are investigating a new distraction theft that cost a woman $1,000.

The woman was leaving a grocery store on John Street North around 1:30 p.m. last Wednesday when she was approached by another woman. The woman, whom she did not know, told her there were tacks in the tires of her vehicle.

While the victim was examining her tires, the unknown woman reached into her cart and stole her wallet.

A transaction for $1,000 was later charged on one of the cards that was inside the stolen wallet, police said.

So far, the only description police have of the suspect is that she was a female wearing a mask.

Anyone with information about this incident or who sees any suspicious activity in relation to this offence is asked to call police.
