One person killed, another hurt in southeast London crash

A two-vehicle crash in southeast London has left one dead and another with serious injuries.

Emergency crews were called after a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger vehicle collided at the intersection of Highbury Avenue South and Dingman Drive around 8 a.m. on Monday.

Firefighters had to cut one person from the wreckage.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the commercial vehicle was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

London police closed the intersection as officers with the traffic management unit investigated the cause of the crash. It has since re-opened.
