Woman charged in separate downtown attacks

Two separate random attacks downtown, including one that left a woman with stab wounds, have led to charges against a 44-year-old Londoner.

The first incident happened in the area of Clarence and King streets around 4:15 p.m. A woman was walking when she was approached by another woman who she did not know. The unknown woman assaulted and robbed the other woman before taking off from the scene. London police were called, but were unable to locate a suspect.

Roughly an hour and a half later, a woman walking in the area of Dundas and Maitland streets was approached by a woman who began yelling obscenities at her. The two exchanged words before one woman stabbed the other and then took off.

Police were called and using a provided description arrested a suspect on Dundas near Colborne Street.

The two women who were attacked suffered minor injuries, police said.

After further investigation, investigators determined the same woman was responsible for both assaults, police said.

A London woman has been charged with robbery with violence and assault with a weapon. She appeared in court in relation to the charges on Monday.
