London police say the second man wanted in a shooting last week downtown has been arrested.
Lucas Townend was taken into custody by officers Monday morning. The 27-year-old was originally charged by way of warrant on Friday for possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order. The charges stem from a shooting on Albert Street west of Richmond Street around 8 p.m. on May 31.
Two people called 911 to report hearing gunfire in the area. Officers responding to the calls found evidence that a gun had been fired, although there was no reported damage or injuries.
Investigators used video surveillance to identify two suspects.
A search of a residence turned up a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and a silencer. A 22-year-old London man was arrested at the time. He was charged with possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition.
Prior to his arrest, police publicly released a photo of Townend and advised people not to approach him if seen, but to instead call 911.
He was scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges against him on Monday.
