Vandals damage statues at Norfolk County church

Provincial police are looking for the vandals who damaged several religious statues at a church southeast of Tillsonburg.

Investigators have determined that the vandalism at Sacred Heart Church in Langton happened between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

Vandals spray-painted statues on the property. Photos of the damage provided by police show at least two statues with black paint covering the figure's face and hands. A sign at the back of the property was also defaced with yellow paint.

"The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact the police. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges will be laid," police said in a statement.

Police are asking anyone with information about this vandalism or who has video surveillance that may have captured the suspects involved to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
