Human remains found along bank of Thames River

Police are investigating after a fisherman found human remains along the bank of the Thames River on Monday evening.

Members of the Oneida Nation Police Service and the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to River Road on the First Nation on April 10 at around 6:20 p.m.

The OPP said the scene is secure, and police are working in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to try to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.

Police said the investigation is in the early stages and more information will be released when it becomes available.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call London-Middlesex Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
