Police investigating shooting

London police are investigating after a man showed up to a city hospital with an apparent gunshot wound earlier this week.

At around 9:45 a.m. Monday, officers were called to the hospital about a weapons incident after the victim arrived for treatment of his injuries.

Police spoke with the man and were told his injury allegedly happened sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. in a residential area on Hilton Avenue in east London.

The man claimed he approached a pair of unknown men outside a home, when one of them is said to have pulled out a firearm and shot him. The victim went to the hospital the next morning and police say his injuries were deemed minor.

Investigators with the Major Crime Section have since taken over the probe.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
