SIU called after motorcycle crash involving cruiser in Tillsonburg

The province's police watchdog is investigating after a motorcyclist was hurt in a crash involving a police cruiser in Tillsonburg over the weekend.

At around 10 p.m. Sunday, Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene of the crash on Lisgar Avenue.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the police officer was not injured.

Lisgar Avenue was closed for several hours while police investigated. The West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team continues to look into the incident.

The Special Investigations Unit has been contacted and has since invoked its mandate.

No other details are being released at this time.
