RCMP drug trafficking investigation leads to charges against two Londoners

Two Londoners are charged following a months-long investigation that saw the RCMP seize cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, a gun, and ammunition.

RCMP began investigating last fall after its transnational serious and organized crime unit received information about suppliers of controlled substances in the London region.

After several months of investigation, the RCMP searched unspecified locations in the London area on May 31. In addition to the drugs and firearm, officers found approximately $10,500 in cash.

A 26-year-old and a 24-year-old, both from London, were arrested. They have since been charged with numerous offences including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and possession of property obtained by crime.

An additional charge of resisting arrest was laid against the 26-year-old.

"This investigation is another great example of how the RCMP is committed to keeping harmful substances out of Canadian communities," said RCMP Superintendent Jeff Cooper.

Anyone with information about drug importation, trafficking, or possession is asked to call their local police service, the Ontario RCMP at 1-800-387-0020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
