Shoppers Drug Mart recalls powdered baby formula

Shoppers Drug Mart is recalling some Abbott brand powdered infant formula because they could be contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii and Salmonella.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says in rare cases, cronobacter sakazakii could cause serious or fatal infection, especially in newborns. It has been associated with severe intestinal infection and blood poisoning.

Salmonella can cause fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
