Londoner charged in murder of Six Nations woman

A London man is among two people charged with murder in the death of a Six Nations woman whose body was found in the Humber River in Toronto.

The Toronto Police Service began investigating the death if Ruth Ann Longboat, 56, of the Six Nations of the Grand River after her body was found in the Humber River south of Dundas Street West in early March. The investigation was later turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police.

On Tuesday, the OPP and the Six Nations Police Service announced charges against Jayden Elijah, 23, of London and Michael Joseph, 23, of Brantford. Both are charged with first degree murder and committing an indignity to a body.

Both appeared in court in Brantford on Tuesday and were remanded into custody.
