Wanted man arrested thanks to an alert citizen

The St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) arrested a 32-year-old man who was wanted on eight warrants.

Police said they were contacted by an alert citizen who spotted the man in a department store on Friday.

The 32-year-old was arrested on the strength of the eight warrants, which totalled 40 charges against him.

STPS said that the man was also in possession of a prohibited weapon and was found to be breaching several conditions of his current release, resulting in a further six charges.

Following his arrest, the man was transported to the Colin McGregor Building where he was held for court and remanded into custody.
