UPDATE: Man arrested following incident near Rectory and Hamilton

The London Police Service (LPS) made an arrest after responding to the area of Rectory Street and Hamilton Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said paramedics requested assistance after a patient was found to be in possession of what appeared to be a firearm during transport in an ambulance.

Following an investigation, a 26-year-old man was arrested and what turned out to be a replica firearm was recovered by police.

No injuries have been reported due to the incident.

A tweet sent out by LPS Operations, early in the investigation, asked residents to avoid the area.

The investigation is still ongoing, anyone with information is asked to contact LPS at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
