The London region isn't finished with winter weather just yet.
Environment Canada issued a winter weather travel advisory on the weekend for London, Parkhill, Strathroy, Komoka, Eastern Middlesex County, and Western Middlesex County, calling for up to 20 cm of total snowfall by Monday. By late Sunday afternoon, the region was covered in a blanket of snow, but not as much as had been predicted.
But more is expected Monday, when northwesterly winds with gusts of up to 60 km/h could mean blowing snow with reduced visibility for drivers.
"Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions," warned the agency. "Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow."
At times, visibility will be zero because of blowing snow.
"Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common," said the statement.
Drivers should monitor road conditions from the Ministry of Transportation by checking its website, following it on Twitter, or calling 511.
Environment Canada will continue to monitor the forecast and update it as needed.
