Pair charged in parking lot drug bust

Police in Woodstock say two men face trafficking charges after an investigation turned up various illicit drugs.

Officers with the Woodstock Police Drug Enforcement and Criminal Intelligence Unit, along with uniformed patrol officers, began the investigation at around 9 a.m. Thursday. Police say a pair of men, suspected to be impaired, were seen in a parked vehicle on Norwich Avenue near Juliana Drive.

During a search of the vehicle, investigators seized around $5,000 worth of suspected fentanyl, magic mushrooms (psilocybin), and hydromorphone.

Two men, age 28 and 30 ,both of Woodstock are jointly charged with possession of a schedule I opioid, possession of a schedule III substance, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The pair were taken into police custody pending a court hearing.
