Surgeries postponed at St. Joseph's hospital due to COVID-19 exposure

Several surgeries at St. Joseph's Health Care in London have been postponed due to a positive COVID-19 case among staff.

Officials at St. Joseph’s Health Care London confirmed that at least 36 elective procedures have been postponed after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The positive case has affected four operating rooms at the hospital.

"We regret the inconvenience and anxiety this may cause and wish to reassure our patients that their appointments will be rescheduled as quickly as possible," the statement read.

Patients with appointments for surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital will be notified directly if there is a change in their appointment.

Officials said any further impacts on the operating rooms after Monday, December 13 are not yet known.

The hospital said those who have not been notified directly about a change to their appointment should still come in for their procedure.
