Windy start to the week

Strong winds that blew into southwestern Ontario late Sunday are expected to continue throughout the day Monday.

Environment Canada has a special weather statement in effect because of the windy weather for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, London-Middlesex, Oxford County, and Elgin County.

As a cold front moves through the region, winds are expected to strengthen again by Monday afternoon. At times, gusts could range between 70 to 80 km/h.

The strong winds could toss loose objects, snap tree branches and lead to power outages, Environment Canada said in a statement.

Winds are expected to diminish Monday night.
