Several buildings had to be evacuated and a few roads were closed in downtown London after an underground steam pipe burst on Friday.
Emergency crews were called to York Street near Clarence Street around 2 p.m. Pictures and videos posted to social media showed a large cloud of steam emanating from the area. There were concerns initially that there was a fire, but the fire department confirmed that there was no blaze in the area.
No injuries were reported, however CitiPlaza and the VIA Rail Station were evacuated as a precaution.
Police also closed the intersection of Wellington and York Streets, as well as the intersection of Dundas Street and Clarence Street.
London Transit buses were brought to the area to provide shelter for those who left the evacuated buildings.
Just before 4:30 p.m., the London Fire Department gave the all clear.
