Putnam man killed in industrial accident

A 21-year-old Putnam man is dead after becoming pinned under a large steel box while on the job on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called about the industrial accident at a business on Clarke Road in South-West Oxford Township around 12:15 a.m. The man was working when he became pinned under the steel box.

Police have not identified the business or how long the man was pinned under the box before help arrived. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed later on Wednesday.

The man has been identified as William Beacham of Putnam.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
